The Communication Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Wasa Amenfi East, Mr. Samuel Amuah, has clarified that the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative was not fully financed by the government, but rather a public–private partnership aimed at boosting industrial development across the country.
Speaking in an interview with Asona News, Mr. Amuah explained that under the 1D1F program, the government’s role was to support private investors by creating a favorable environment for business growth. According to him, this support included helping investors to secure loans more easily, offering tax exemptions, and in some cases, providing relief from electricity bills.
He emphasized that these measures were intended to empower the private sector to expand production and create more jobs for Ghanaians.
Mr. Amuah made these remarks in response to recent concerns about the Wasa Amenfi East Cassava Factory, which has reportedly halted operations. He clarified that the factory has not collapsed, but rather suspended work temporarily.
“The factory has not collapsed. It has only paused operations, and only the managers can explain the reasons behind that decision,” Mr. Amuah stated.
