The Assembly Member for Wasa Nananko Electoral Area, Hon. Pious Ampong, has clarified that the GHC 300,000 captured in the Wasa Amenfi East 2026 budget is not the full cost of the Wasa Akropong Mini Stadium project, but rather the amount allocated for clearing the site and preparing it for construction.
Speaking on Asona News at 2, Hon. Ampong explained that the allocation is meant to begin the first phase of the project, which includes clearing the land and relocating a school currently situated on the site.
He made the clarification following public concerns that the amount seemed too small for a stadium project.
> “The GHC 300,000 is just to clear the land and prepare the site for construction. It is not for the entire project,” Hon. Ampong explained. “There’s a school currently on the land, and we will move them before work starts. That is what this first phase is meant to take care of.”
The Wasa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly approved the budget during its annual general meeting held on Thursday, 30th October 2025. The proposed mini stadium at Wasa Akropong is part of the Assembly’s development plans to promote sports and youth development in the municipality.
Hon. Ampong expressed optimism that once the site is cleared and prepared, additional funding will be secured to complete the full stadium project in the coming phases.
