At the Public Accounts Committee hearing held on Monday, November 3, 2025, the Minister for Communication and Digital Technology, Samuel Nartey George, called for strong regulation of courier and delivery services in Ghana.
He raised concerns about growing public complaints that some customers order food online, but when it is delivered, parts of the meal — especially the meat — are missing.
> “We need to have a regulation of courier services because people order food, it arrives and the meat has been eaten,” Hon. Samuel Nartey George said.
According to him, this situation shows the need for better supervision and accountability in the courier industry. He noted that while courier services play an important role in Ghana’s digital economy, the lack of proper oversight allows unprofessional behavior to go unchecked.
Hon. George added that his ministry will work on new policies to ensure courier companies follow strict rules on hygiene, transparency, and customer protection.
Many Ghanaians have reacted on social media, sharing their own stories about similar delivery experiences. Some found humor in the minister’s remark, while others said it was time the government acted to stop such practices.
The Minister’s comments have sparked a national conversation about the reliability of courier services and the need to protect consumers from issues like “missing meat” and other forms of poor service delivery.
