The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has officially written to the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, requesting his support for the removal of Hon. Abena Osei Asare as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

According to Hon. A Plus, this move is intended to protect the integrity and dignity of Parliament, especially the committee responsible for ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of public funds.
He explained that many of the issues currently before the Public Accounts Committee took place during the time Abena Osei Asare served as Deputy Minister of Finance, making it inappropriate for her to now question others about financial matters that happened under her own leadership.

> “It is important that Ghanaians are fully aware that all the matters currently before the Public Accounts Committee occurred under the leadership of Abena Osei Asare when she served as Deputy Minister of Finance. She cannot now turn around to demand answers from newly appointed officials on issues that happened under her own watch,” A Plus stated.
He further described the situation as hypocrisy and an insult to the intelligence of the Ghanaian people, stressing that Parliament must not allow individuals who were involved in financial irregularities to preside over investigations into those same issues.
> “We must not allow those who presided over financial irregularities to sit in judgment over them,” he added.
Hon. A Plus emphasized that his call is not a personal attack, but a bold step to uphold the credibility of Parliament and strengthen public trust in its committees.
The letter has been officially submitted to the Speaker’s office, and Ghanaians are now waiting to see how Parliament will respond to Hon. A Plus’s petition.
