A leaked letter circulating within some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Amenfi East has exposed a secret plan by a few individuals to remove the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah, from office.
The anonymous writers, claiming to be concerned party members, alleged that the MCE has become a threat to the future of the party in the constituency. They accused him of working closely with some members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and sidelining the party’s leadership and the Member of Parliament.
According to the letter, Hon. Ebbah has allegedly formed a group of close allies made up of some technocrats and civil servants, including the Coordinating Director, to control local government decisions. The writers also claimed that the MCE and his team misuse public funds and ignore the concerns of party executives.
They further alleged that Hon. Ebbah has blocked the operations of the DRIP project, saying he refused to work with the appointed coordinator and instead rents out project machines for money while many roads in the municipality remain in poor condition.
The petition also accused the MCE of using his loyal boys to intimidate anyone who questions his actions, and suggested that some regional party officials have been “compromised” with money and favors.
However, some observers believe the letter is part of a broader plan by a few individuals within the party who wish to contest the MCE position in the future. They see the petition as an attempt to discredit Hon. Ebbah and turn party members against him.
Supporters of Hon. Ebbah have dismissed the claims as baseless and politically motivated, insisting that the MCE has brought major development projects to the area and continues to work in the interest of both the government and the party.
The incident has sparked heated debate within some circles of the Amenfi East NDC, with many calling for unity and warning that internal divisions could harm the party’s chances in the next general elections.
