The Kumasi High Court has received original copies of the marriage certificate between the late highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosuh (Daddy Lumba), and Akosua Serwaa Fosuh. This comes as the legal fight over who is the rightful widow of the musician becomes more intense.
Lawyer William Kusi, who represents Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, submitted the documents on Monday. They were obtained directly from the Registry of Marriage in Bornheim, Germany. The documents included the original power of attorney issued to Georgina Osei Bonsu, an invoice and notary papers, and an English translation of the marriage certificate that was officially notarised in Germany.
Akosua Serwaa Fosuh is asking the High Court to declare her the only legal widow of Daddy Lumba and the only person allowed to perform widowhood rites at his funeral. She also wants the court to stop another woman, Priscilla Ofori — popularly known as Odo Broni — from claiming to be the musician’s wife.
The defendants in the case are Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, head of the Ekuona family of Parkoso; Priscilla Ofori (Odo Broni); and Transitions Funeral Home.
The court has set Friday, 28 November 2025, to deliver its final judgment after lawyer Kusi finished his cross-examination on Tuesday, 25 November 2025.
