The Assembly Member for Enyinabrim Electoral Area in the Wasa Amenfi Central Municipality, Hon. Vincent Ackah, has expressed concern over the collapsed cassava factory that was established under the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative.
Speaking in an interview, Hon. Ackah described the situation as unfortunate and disappointing, saying the factory had the potential to create many job opportunities for the youth in Wasa Amenfi.
“This is not a good image for Wasa Amenfi. The factory could have created jobs for our young people who are desperately looking for work,” he said.
Hon. Ackah has therefore called on all Members of Parliament (MPs), Municipal and District Chief Executives (MCEs and DCEs), and traditional leaders (Nananom) across Wasa Amenfi to come together and appeal to the central government to revive the factory.
He believes the central government may not even be fully aware that the factory has collapsed, and drawing attention to the issue could help bring about action.
“Maybe the government does not know what is happening. If our leaders go there to raise the issue, it could help the government take steps to bring the factory back to life,” Hon. Ackah noted.
The Assembly Member urged all stakeholders to treat the matter as urgent and work together to restore the factory, which he said could help reduce unemployment and improve the local economy.
