The High Court in Kumasi has ruled in favor of the Lumba family in the ongoing dispute over the funeral arrangements of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.
The ruling, delivered on Tuesday, 28th October 2025, dismissed an injunction filed by Madam Akosua Serwaa, the first wife of the late musician. She had sought to stop the family from holding the funeral scheduled for 6th December 2025 in Kumasi.
With the court’s decision, the family now has full control over all funeral activities.
Speaking to the media after the ruling, the family head (Abusua Panin), Agya Kofi Owusu, expressed excitement and relief.
> “The court has ruled for us, so now we have power over the funeral. Nobody can stop us again. We, the Lumba family, will direct how everything will go,” he proudly stated.
He also warned some journalists and social media users to stop insulting him and spreading false stories about the family, emphasizing that they are now focused on giving Daddy Lumba a dignified farewell.
The decision brings an end to weeks of confusion and legal battles over who should lead the funeral preparations for one of Ghana’s greatest music icons.
