Teachers of Amenss Model Basic School in Wasa Akropong are appealing to authorities to take immediate action against a suspected “wee base” located close to the school.
According to the teachers, the base has become a serious threat to the safety and moral upbringing of their students. They explained that the presence of the group near the school exposes pupils to bad behavior and could negatively influence them.
In an interview with Lawyer 1, a reporter with Asona FM, some of the teachers revealed that their own attempts to drive the group away have failed. They alleged that members of the base even threatened to beat them when they complained about their activities.
The teachers also expressed concern about the strong smell of marijuana, which sometimes spreads into classrooms during lessons, making it difficult for pupils to concentrate.
They are therefore calling on the Wasa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly, the police, and other relevant authorities to intervene urgently to shut down the base and restore safety around the school environment.
