(EOCO) has issued a strong statement dismissing reports by the online news portal Novareport that claimed Kevin Okyere, the CEO of Springfield Energy, had been arrested or detained in Dubai.

According to EOCO, the publication is false and misleading. The Office clarified that it is currently conducting two active investigations involving Springfield Energy. The first case involves a petition filed against Springfield Energy, and the second concerns an ongoing dispute between BOST (Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited) and Springfield Energy.
EOCO explained that it is their policy to ensure proper investigations are completed before any arrest is made, not the other way around. The agency also emphasized that the case between BOST and Springfield Energy is a high priority due to its potential impact on Ghana’s economy and BOST’s finances.
The statement expressed disappointment that Novareport did not contact EOCO for clarification before publishing what it called a “false story.”
EOCO reassured the public that it remains committed to investigating and prosecuting economic and organized crimes in Ghana. The agency urged everyone to ignore the false claims made by Novareport and to trust that EOCO is actively working on both cases involving Springfield Energy.
The press statement was signed by the Head of Public Affairs on behalf of the Executive Director and was dated 2nd November 2025.
