The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wasa Amenfi East, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah, has issued a strong warning to residents across the municipality who have blocked gutters and stopped the free flow of water.
He said some individuals have covered gutters with cement, making it difficult for water to pass through, leading to flooding and environmental problems. According to him, such behavior will no longer be tolerated.
To demonstrate his seriousness, Hon. Ebbah led a team during a Sanitation Day exercise at Wasa Japa, where choked gutters that had been blocked with concrete were broken to allow water to flow again. He explained that Japa was an example, but the problem exists in other communities within the municipality.
“Anyone who blocks gutters must take them off. If they don’t do it, we will demolish all the illegal structures to prevent flooding. The President appointed me to deliver results, and that is what I am doing,” he stressed.
The MCE praised the people of Wasa Japa for their strong turnout and support during the cleanup activity. He encouraged the entire Wasa Amenfi East Municipal area to take sanitation seriously and avoid practices that put the community at risk.
He added that the Assembly will continue to monitor communities and take action against all who contribute to poor sanitation and flooding issues.
