The Western Regional Spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong’s presidential campaign team, Nana Bantama, has criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over his recent promise to engage grassroots supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) annually.
According to Nana Bantama, such a promise reveals the Vice President’s weakness and disconnect from the party’s base.
“Dr. Bawumia’s promise to engage the grassroots annually shows his weakness as a politician. Why not vote for Hon. Ken Agyapong, who already understands their problems?” he wrote on Facebook.
Nana Bantama emphasized that Kennedy Agyapong has been in constant touch with the ordinary people, understands their struggles, and does not need a yearly event to listen to them.
His post has generated mixed reactions among party supporters — while some agree that Agyapong is closer to the grassroots, others believe Dr. Bawumia’s initiative shows humility and a willingness to engage.
As the NPP’s internal contest gains momentum, comments like these highlight the growing tension between the two leading aspirants.
