Wasa Amenfi East, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah, has warned residents to stop laying toilet pipes into gutters and blocking water passages for their personal convenience.
Speaking during the National Sanitation Day exercise at Wasa Japa, Hon. Nana Ebbah said his administration will no longer tolerate such irresponsible acts that endanger public health and destroy community infrastructure.
According to him, some residents connect their toilet systems directly into open gutters instead of constructing proper manholes. Others even block gutters with cement and other materials for selfish reasons, causing serious drainage problems during rainfall.
The MCE cautioned that anyone found engaging in such acts will face the full force of the law. He explained that blocking gutters or discharging waste into them is a major cause of flooding and poor sanitation in the municipality.
During the cleanup exercise at Wasa Japa, some of the gutters that had been deliberately blocked were destroyed to restore proper water flow.
Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah urged residents to take good care of their environment and support the government’s sanitation campaign. He reminded the public that clean surroundings mean good health and safety for all.
