Some residents living around the Wasa Akropong Youth Center are still complaining about the lack of electricity for several weeks now. They say life has become very difficult, especially at night, and they are appealing to the authorities to restore power as soon as possible.
According to the residents, the transformer serving the area got damaged a few weeks ago, leaving them in total darkness. Although a new transformer has been installed recently, electricity has still not been restored, causing frustration among the people.
Speaking to Agya Yaw Obeng Preko, the CEO and Chief Editor of Preko News, some residents said they do not understand why power has not yet been connected even after the new transformer was mounted. They are calling on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) or the appropriate authorities to explain the reason for the delay and to take immediate action.
The residents also noted that the situation is affecting their daily activities, including small businesses that rely on electricity to operate. Many have had to spend extra money on fuel for generators or live in discomfort during the nights.
They are, therefore, pleading with officials to fix the problem quickly so that life in the area can return to normal.
