The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has successfully held the 2025 edition of its Land Combat Firepower Demonstration (LCFD) — a live-fire military exercise that showcased the combined strength and coordination of Ghana’s Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The exercise took place at the Battle Training Camp (BTC) in Bundase, near Accra, on Friday, 31st October 2025. It displayed the full capability of an Infantry Battalion in action, supported by combat and service units that work together to boost the strength and precision of GAF operations.
The event also served as a practical training session for officers and students of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), particularly those in Senior Staff Course 47. The aim was to bridge classroom theory with real-life military practice and to prepare officers with strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and operational readiness.

During their training, student officers are introduced to the various capabilities of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, both individually and in combined operations. This helps them better understand modern warfare and the importance of teamwork between the services to achieve mission success.
Speaking at the close of the event, Deputy Defence Minister, Mr. Ernest Brogya Genfi, who was the Guest of Honour, praised the Ghana Armed Forces for their discipline, professionalism, and commitment. He said the exercise was not just a show of weapons and tactics but also a demonstration of strategy, leadership, and coordination, which reflect Ghana’s growing military excellence.

Mr. Genfi emphasized that in today’s world of complex and changing security challenges, readiness and cooperation among the armed forces are more important than ever. He assured that the government is fully committed to retooling and modernizing the Ghana Armed Forces, beginning in 2026 under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.
“We understand that the real strength of our military lies not only in its equipment but also in the well-being of the men and women who serve,” Mr. Genfi said. He added that the government is working to improve conditions of service, housing, training facilities, healthcare, and family support systems for military personnel.
On regional security, the Deputy Minister noted that the government is aware of the growing threats in West Africa — including terrorism, violent extremism, cyber threats, and other transnational crimes. To respond to these challenges, Ghana is strengthening intelligence systems, improving joint military operations, and increasing cooperation with international partners.
The main unit for this year’s LCFD was the 1 Infantry Battalion of the Ghana Army, led by Lieutenant Colonel Frank Adams, with support from other army units and coordination with the Navy and Air Force.
Dignitaries present at the event included the National Security Coordinator, members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Gbetanu, and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Brigadier General Stephen Parbey, along with other senior officers, commanders, and students of GAFCSC Senior Staff Course 47.

The 2025 LCFD once again demonstrated Ghana’s commitment to building a strong, well-trained, and modern military force capable of defending the nation and contributing to peace and stability in the West African sub-region.
