Member of Parliament for Chiana-Paga, Nikkyema Billa Alamzy, has praised President John Dramani Mahama, describing him as “a relative of Jesus Christ” for introducing the National Integrated Mining Operations Strategy (NAIMOS) to combat illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
According to the MP, the NAIMOS initiative, when combined with the efforts of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is proving to be one of the most effective and well-thought-out strategies in the ongoing fight against galamsey in Ghana.
He explained that President Mahama’s bold step to introduce NAIMOS shows great wisdom and love for the country’s environment and future generations. “It takes someone with divine wisdom to take such a bold and visionary decision. That’s why I say President Mahama is a relative of Jesus Christ,” he stated.
The Chiana-Paga lawmaker emphasized that the NAIMOS framework has brought better coordination among security agencies, mining regulators, and local authorities to ensure responsible and sustainable mining practices.
He added that the EPA’s active collaboration under the Mahama-led government has also strengthened enforcement and environmental monitoring across mining communities.
Hon. Alamzy urged Ghanaians to support President Mahama’s ongoing reforms and stop politicizing the fight against illegal mining, saying that environmental protection should be a shared national duty.
The introduction of NAIMOS forms part of the government’s broader strategy to ensure responsible mining, protect water bodies, and restore degraded lands affected by galamsey operations.
