During the Farmers’ Day celebration on Friday, 5th December 2025, President John Dramani Mahama delivered a strong message encouraging all Ghanaians to take farming seriously. He emphasized that farming is a valuable occupation that can provide additional income and improve the lives of individuals and families across the country.
According to the President, farming should not be seen as an activity reserved only for people living in rural areas or those considered poor. He explained that anyone—regardless of their profession or social status—can engage in farming while still maintaining their regular job.
President Mahama highlighted that modern farming has become an important source of wealth for many people. He urged Ghanaians, especially the youth, to take advantage of opportunities in agriculture, saying that the sector has the potential to create jobs, support households, and strengthen the national economy.
He also encouraged his ministers and government officials to lead by example by getting involved in farming. This, he said, will show the nation that agriculture is a respected and rewarding field that deserves attention and investment.
The President concluded by praising Ghanaian farmers for their hard work and contribution to the country’s food security. He assured them of the government’s continued support to improve agriculture and make farming more attractive for everyone.
